Founded in 1983 by Merv Keehn, a passionate mechanic who turned his love for cars into a thriving business, Merv Keehn Autos proudly served the Toowoomba community for over 30 years. Merv built more than just engines – he built trust, reliability, and lasting relationships with his customers.
In 2022, after decades of dedicated service, Merv passed the tools to new owners James and Melissa Gale – marking the beginning of a new chapter as Keehn Automotive.
James Gale brings over 25 years of experience in the diesel and automotive industries. A highly skilled mechanic and dedicated business owner, James has spent decades honing his craft and earning a reputation for excellence. His hands-on approach, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality workmanship are at the heart of everything . Together with his wife, Melissa, the Gales combine technical expertise, business management and customer care to continue the Keehn legacy while delivering the personal service and quality workmanship customers have come to expect.

Dual traded in both Heavy Diesel and Automotive Mechanical, James enjoys the challenge of diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of vehicles. From classic cars to modern daily drivers, he takes pride in finding practical solutions and ensuring every vehicle leaves the workshop operating at its best. His attention to detail and commitment to doing the job right have helped build lasting relationships with customers throughout the region.
Luke Gale
Apprentice Technician
Our Apprentice, Luke, plays an important role within the Keehn Automotive team. With a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for the automotive industry, Luke continues to develop his skills and experience across a wide range of servicing and repair work. His attention to detail, willingness to learn and commitment to quality workmanship contribute to the high standard of service we strive to provide every day.
